Sketches of Becoming: The Entransing Story

Ink & Imagination

Wow! The journey of Entransing Art has been amazing. While I expect there’s still a long way to go—Samantha is only in her mid-twenties—it’s already come so far. I’d like to take a moment to look back and appreciate her achievements to date.

Art has always been a part of Samantha’s life. From the moment she could hold a pencil, she’s been creating—through primary school, high school, and university. Today, she’s recognized for her breathtaking Halo fan art and commissions inspired by video games, anime, manga, cars, sci-fi, and pop culture. In contrast to the growing prominence of computer graphics and AI-assisted (or even AI-generated) artwork, she creates her art exclusively by hand, drawing and painting directly on the final medium.

Her journey began in 2013, when she started high school and wanted an Xbox 360 to play titles like Skyrim, GTA IV, and Halo 4. Halo 4 became an absolute joy for Samantha—she started with the campaign, moved into multiplayer, and eventually explored all the previous Halo titles. As her love for Halo grew, she began collecting Halo books—novels and art books alike—eager to dive deeper into the lore beyond the games.

University marked a new chapter. While studying her Design and Commerce double degree at UNSW, Samantha aimed to blend both disciplines into her portfolio, creating product designs that explored the relationship between culture and consumption.

During her time at UNSW, she also began developing fan artwork for video games—mainly Halo, but also Destiny, Skyrim, and Apex Legends. This was the birth of Entransing Art. Her art lean toward realism, with a touch of comic-book style linework and shading. Most of her fan art is black and white with a dash of colour for emphasis, but she’s expanded her medium to include pen, graphite pencil, oil painting, gouache and watercolours. Entransing Art’s style is dynamic and ever-evolving.

The inspiration behind Entransing Art is fascinating. Samantha is drawn to the immersive world-building in video games, especially sci-fi titles. Her passion for science fiction art was sparked when she discovered The Art of Destiny—a game art book that left a lasting impression. When starting a new piece, ideas can strike at any time—whether from suggestions or her own imagination. She keeps a folder full of reference images ready to go. And when she’s in artist mode, the Halo soundtrack is always playing through the speakers, setting the tone for her creative flow.

So, what happens after the drawing is done? If you search “entransing_” on Instagram, you’ll find a gallery of remarkable, detailed artwork that she’s been posting and promoting since 2017. She’s come a long way—from using just a ballpoint pen to now incorporating graphite pencil, watercolour, gouache and oil paint. Her Halo fan art has drawn admiration for its intricate detail, with many commenting on how striking it looks. In addition to selling her original and commissioned artwork, she creates reproductions of many of her pieces and offers art prints both online and at various conventions and markets, steadily building recognition and a growing following. A major milestone came when Halo Waypoint reached out—first to showcase her artwork, and later to interview her about her Halo journey and creative process.

Entransing Art has also collaborated with other artists on graphic design projects, including book and website illustrations. Beyond Instagram, Samantha does commission work and has attended conventions in Sydney, Melbourne, Canberra, and Brisbane to sell and promote her art to fans.

Samantha’s passion has expanded into the world of JDM cars. Ever since she got her driver’s license and learned to drive manual, she’s loved cruising around Sydney and traveling to conventions. Her fascination with JDM culture stems from its unique aesthetic, diverse styles, and the enthusiasm of the fan base. She’s also a fan of anime and manga series like Berserk, JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure, One Piece, Initial D, and Naruto—all of which influence her recent work.

In 2024, we launched Artysn Studio to offer custom gifts, trademarked LayBoard planners, a unique line of laser-engraved art plaques, car hanging air freshener cards and other decor accessories.
